The
John C. Hamil Walk for Parkinson’s Research
is a way to bring together members of the Parkinson’s
community - patients, caregivers, friends, families -
all dedicated to eradicating Parkinson’s and related
neurological diseases. For patients who are slowly
losing control of their bodies, it is a chance to take
an active part in the fight against Parkinson’s. For
families, friends, care-,givers and the public at large,
it is an extremely important opportunity to show support
for all those living with the disease.
John C. Hamil, who was affectionately known as
“Bulldog”, died in May 2005 and was a very active
member of the Jamestown community. John gave of his
time and talents to many areas including his church
(Jamestown Presbyterian Church), the Jamestown Library,
the Greenway walking trails, the restoration and upkeep
of the Mendenhall Plantation, and many other activities
in his community. John lived the last six years of his
life with Parkinson’s disease. This memorial walk is a
way to honor his life and the many contributions he made
to the community he loved.
The
Walk and Bike Ride for Parkinson’s Research
will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011. The walk will
again take place at Jamestown Presbyterian Church,
1804 Guilford College Road,
Jamestown,
North Carolina.
Registration for the walk and bike ride will begin at 9
AM. The walkers and
riders will begin at 10 AM. Walkers,
riders, runners and strollers are all welcome to
participate.
