A great tradition of racing fun!

Junior racers celebrate a great season                                     Scott Hill at the State Games

The first cycles de ORO bike club was formed in 1975, along with the organization of the Carolina Cup. Later, the Greensboro Velo Club was formed to house the race team and the Cup event. Now this club has grown to be one of the most active bike clubs in North Carolina, including all aspects of community cycling; recreational riders, commuters, off road devotees, and tourists.

While we have had great talent and success with riders like Bunki Bankaitis-Davis (Olympian & world champion) and National and North Carolina champions, the focus and intent has been to encourage local riders and provide them an avenue to better enjoy cycling.

The GVC cycles de ORO, Moses Cone Health Systems, First Citizens Bank team for 2008 continue the tradition of being open to all interested potential racers. We are not exclusive but instead is an inclusive group.
